CMA's client is widely recognized as one of the largest investment management firms worldwide, offering funds, advisory services, account management, and retirement plans and services to individuals, institutions, and financial intermediaries. With more than $1.3 trillion in assets, this client recognizes the importance of advanced data and technology platforms that manage, analyze, and report mission-critical information for its internal and external stakeholders.
Like many organizations, our client's data sprawls across a mix of legacy database environments. To leverage the full value of its enterprise data, Database Administrators routinely extract, ship, and load data from many sources onto a common platform for subsequent analysis and reporting. As the size and diversity of the data and data structures have grown, so have the cost and complexity of the processes that DBAs must orchestrate. This includes the need to frequently abort and restart processes that have encountered bottlenecks, which has eroded operational efficiencies and the "time to value" associated with generating and acting upon important, data-driven insights.
Recognizing these obstacles, our client evaluated contemporary software technologies capable of orchestrating the movement of data between existing systems as well as the cloud, optimizing the timeliness and efficiency of its strategic, analytic, and reporting requirements.
Across a time-limited proof of concept (POC), our client evaluated the speed and simplicity at which Mosaic DART extracted and transported their very large datasets and schemas within and across disparate databases. The POC included Mosaic DART's evaluation against established benchmarks associated with common Oracle refreshes.
CMA configured Mosaic DART to easily spin up within the client's existing environment. CMA provided the training and support required by the client's sysadmin and DBA teams as they performed and tested an initial load of data between source and target environments. Subsequently, the client operated Mosaic DART over a period of time to more fully evaluate the tool's ability to enhance operational efficiencies and time to value.
Following an extensive evaluation, our client concluded that Mosaic DART significantly outperformed their existing approach and processes, reducing refresh times from 6.5 hours to 2.5 hours.
On account of these runtime reductions and the efficiencies associated with Mosaic DART's "point-and-click configuration," it was determined that DBAs would reclaim significant amounts of time that could be refocused on other priorities. More importantly, analysts and decision-makers within the organization were able to receive the data they required for analysis and reporting far sooner. As a result, the organization established a new level of agility, allowing it to dynamically adapt to changes in the highly competitive global investments marketplace.
“CMA is proud that when compared to other industry tools, Mosaic DART provided superior performance, enabling our client to better support its internal customer needs and the trillions of dollars in assets they manage," said Ken Romanski, President of CMA.
